USDA Commodities are once again available free of charge to
families in Tazewell County once a month. Per government guidelines
one member of each family must fill out an application to receive
commodities. They must also meet certain income guidelines
established by the government.
Commodities and other food items are given out on the 3rd Saturday
of the month.
Do you qualify for the Commodities Program? You do, if you
currently receive any of the following:
- Food stamps
- Medicaid
- SSI
- If you do not receive one of the three listed above and are low
income you can still receive commodities and other foods from the LOLM.
Just come by on any 3rd Saturday of the month from 11-3:00.
These numbers are residential, please do not call after
9pm unless it is an emergency.

Emergency Food Pantry
How many people in the Appalachian region go to bed hungry every
night? We will provide an emergency food pantry free of charge for
families who have suffered from a disaster like flood, fire, as well
as for families who simply have little or no food. We also stand ready
to help families who are presently going through a rough time. Some
families may not qualify for government commodities but with our
emergency food pantry we have made provisions to ensure that none shall
go hungry.
Residents
who find themselves in need of food can call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week, 365 days year. We will always be there to help, regardless of the
day or hour. We also have perishable foods available for these families as well
as non-perishable foods.
